This is Pennie Wace. A mother of 6 children, 4 of them step, but none the less, family. She is 41 years old, 5’1 and a true believer in God. I don’t think they come more faithful then this girl. She is my mother.
As some of you may know, she was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago. What started out as a tiny lump just above her breast, grew to a toonie sized tumor and broke off into other regions in her body, spine and, now recently it is affecting her hip. She has battled the cancer relentlessly, going through hundreds of pills and three different types of chemo. She has lost her hair, thinned her hair, destroyed her feet and hands, but nothing has stopped her so far.
Our family has gone through a roller coaster of emotion, as we watch her recover and we watch her get worse. But no matter what, she keeps a smile on her face and a prayer in her heart. No matter how bad her day was, she’ll stop to hear how bad yours was. She works full time, raises a family and battles a deadly disease on the side. No matter how down I get, she will always be there to give me a hug. And whenever I start to cry about her, she wipes my tears and says a prayer with me.
Now, I admit, I am not the type who follows religion, but I do believe in God. My Mom always tells the family to say a prayer for her, God will heal heal her. At this point, what other choice do I have. So I willingly give my mother to God, in hopes she will be healed. I have posted this story for a reason. I believe that our tiny family of 8 hasn’t been cutting it for prayers. So I have come to my viewers.
In a plead to save my mother. I truly believe I need more prayers for the healing process to begin. I am at my wits end and I beg of you to pray. If you don’t believe in God, that’s fine, pray to your God. Or, if you don’t believe in any God, just say a prayer of healing.
Here’s the catch though. My mother told me to NEVER bring pity upon her. Don’t pray for her sickness, pray for her healing. I want anyone who reads this post to comment on it. I mean everyone. The comment must be a prayer. Don’t comment and say, “Oh, I’m really sorry about your Mom”, NO! NO PITY! Only positive words, if anything negative is written, I will edit the comment and take it out.
So please, as a friend in need, please take a minute out of your time to write a simple, small, prayer to heal my Mom. My mother and I will read the prayers out loud as they come. My goal is 100. I will start off with the first prayer…

Lord, You invite all who are burdened to come to You. Allow your healing hand to heal me. Touch my soul with Your compassion for others. Touch my heart with Your courage and infinite love for all. I’m more agnostic, but that just means I’m indecisive. Of course, if there is in fact a God and He is in fact listening intently, I will join the rest in asking Him to please let us all enjoy many, many more years of this woman’s inextinguishable joy. She’s an inspiration to us all, and her love of life, family, and seemingly everyone she meets is something I’m sure He can appreciate is much needed by all of us here. Despite everything she’s been through, she’s been an utter delight for as long as I’ve known her, and her determination and bravery in the face of this illness could not possibly have missed your attention. Lord, please help heal my beautiful and strong stepmother. She is my hero, my idol and the reason I can end my days with a smile. She takes cares of me when I’m sick and holds me when I’m crying. Pennie wace you are basically a second mother to me…or wait first mother. I have never had someone take care of me and love me as much as you did. You took me in when I was going through alot of hard stuff and I thank you so much for that. You are an amazing woman with the most caring heart and soul EVER. Your so caring and generous that your heart must be taking over your body. I know it. Your so happy and such an incredible woman that I don’t think anything will bring you down. I know that God is watching over you and you will be better actually AMAZINGLY better. I could not live without you and alot of people couldn’t too. I pray every day for happiness in my life as well as yours plus steph,jack,mike,kevin,ryan,chris,joelle, and mandy:D you guys are all amazing and I don’t know what I would do without you. Hey Steph What a great idea! You’ve inspired me because I’m in the same boat as you… Although it sounds like we’re stepping out of the boat and starting to walk on water! (And I’m not talking about ice skating…I’m talking about having the Matt.14:25-33 kind of faith that will heal both our moms). Every night I’ve been saying this prayer for your mom and mine. (Got it from one of Joyce’s books – I’ll bet there’s a copy somewhere on your mom’s shelf…). Father – thank you for sending Jesus to die on the cross to provide salvation and healing for us. Thank you for the use of Jesus’ name which is more powerful than any other name that exists. According to Proverbs 4:20-22, your words are health to our flesh, and according to Isaiah 55:11, your spoken word will accomplish and prosper in the thing it was sent to do. So I speak that, in Jesus’ name, by Jesus’ stripes, Pennie is healed according to Peter 2:24, and I BELIEVE Pennie has received her healing. I just had a dream yesterday. And this dream had you in it, Pennie. It was about the time I came over like… 2 yearsish after Steph and I broke up. I remember I asked if you hated me for what I had done back then. For some reason, I just had to ask you… because I knew if anyone knew how she really felt (besides her), it’d be you. And I remember the words that you told me; that Steph deserved to have her own life now, and that she was getting out into the world… making something of herself. But, the thing that stuck with me the most were the four words you said to me: I don’t hate you. Something about those words really got to me. I honestly never expected you to say that… I don’t know why, but I just didn’t. I was scared. But, you honestly made me feel better. It was after that that I felt like I was allowed to be Steph’s friend again, like I had permission or something. You gave me a happiness that I hadn’t felt in a good two years… As long as you didn’t hate me, I didn’t care about anything else… Honestly, I can’t blame the boys for not favoring me… I wouldn’t favor me. Well… to wrap this up really… I just wanted to say Thank you… Thank you so much for everything you’ve ever done to me. I’m wishing with all my heart that you get better… I’m wishing harder than I’ve ever wished for anything in my entire life.
So, God, Allah… whoever does the saving in this world. Please. I beg you. Save the nicest woman I’ve ever met in my entire life. Heal her. God knows she deserves it….

I like to think of myself as spiritual vs. religious…I accept all forms of faith when pure, and if I could describe faith in the name of a person it would be Pennie…she is the epitome of having faith…in herself in her colleagues in her family and in God. Your mother is in my thoughts and prayers. Just last year only a few months apart two of my aunts were diagnosed with breast cancer, it was absolutely devastating for all of us. Our family just kept positive and grew closer together in these times of need. You never think things like this will happen to you or the ones you love.

Pennie, unfortunately I have never had the opportunity to meet you but if you are anything like Stephanie, then I can only imagine how big of a heart you must have. One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
May God be with your family and help your mother overcome cancer!

My name is Patty, I just wanted to let you know that you never give up God loves all of his children, and also heals them, I personally have been touched by several members of my own family, including my mother and my husband, who have both had a battle with cancer, I know exactly how you feel, you have to be strong for your Mom, as she is probably very strong on the outside, but very scared on the inside, not knowing what may happen, but I guarantee you if you pray and trust in the Lord, with all your might, he will make you and your family stronger to deal with the terrible disease, you are not alone many families everyday are faced with this terrible battle, and just to give you encouragement, a good friend of mine was diagnosed with breat cancer of 25 years ago, and was told she had months, to live, the cancer has spread all throughout her body, but she is doing well today, and still fighting it together with her family. Just keep being strong for your Mom, and the Lord will pour many blessings upon you and your Mom and family, just to let your know you are not alone, I will say a prayer for your Mom and your family tonight, and I pray that you do receive millions of e-mails, to help you cope with what you are going through, I challenge anyone else out there especially, any Latter Day Saints to come forward and bare their testimony as well, and also anyone else struggling with the terrible and crippling disease to come forward and respond to this plea of hope and faith, I send my love and prayers with your Mom and your family,

Last time I saw you Pennie was a couple of years ago, I used to be Joelle’s best friend throughout grade 6 to 8, and I would come over sometimes when we had sleepovers, though they were mostly at her mom’s house. But I remember coming to the house you all moved into a couple of years ago, watching movies with Jack and Joelle and drinking the hot chocolate and marshmellows you made for us. My heart is out to you and your family at this time. I know what you are probably going through because I see what happens everyday. I live with my grandma who has breast cancer and watch her get endless amounts of needles and pills a day, and chemo that drains her energy and certain needles that make her sick. Shes been in the hospital so much that now she even has her own personal IV at our house. My aunt also has breast cancer, and has already gone through three surgeries. My family and I have come together almost every single night and have prayed for a cure, and for everybody suffering through the pain and emotions that cancer brings. Though my family members will be alright in the end, I know deep down you will be too. Though I am not trying to make this a pity comment, I hope the best for you.
I still hear good things about you to this day from Joelle. I know and can tell that there are a lot of people that are wishing and praying for you to get better. Never give up hope, and hold your head up high beautiful. May God and his angels bless you, and take the pain away. After the storm comes the rainbow.

I was 36 when diagnosed with breast cancer. At the time I had two kids, one of which was only in grade one, my daughter was 14. I had a double mastectomy and am proud to say that this summer I watched that same daughter get married. My son is now in high school. When they gave me the news that I had the big “C”, all I ever wanted was to see my daughter get married. Well not only was I there, but we danced!! To this day, 8 years later, I am still ‘clear’. Anyone who has pets will really like this. You’ll like it even if you don’t and you may even decide you need one!
Mary and her husband Jim had a dog named ‘Lucky.’ Lucky was a real character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his fancy. Inevitably, someone would forget and something would come up missing.
Mary or Jim would go to Lucky’s toy box in the basement and there the treasure would be, amid all of Lucky’s other favorite toys. Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box and he was very particular that his toys stay in the box.
It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer. Something told her she was going to die of this disease….in fact ,she was just sure it was fatal.
She scheduled the double mastectomy, fear riding her shoulders. The night before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled with Lucky. A thought struck her…what would happen to Lucky? Although the three-year-old dog liked Jim, he was Mary’s dog through and through. If I die, Lucky will be abandoned, Mary thought. He won’t understand that I didn’t want to leave him. The thought made her sadder than thinking of her own death.
The double mastectomy was harder on Mary than her doctors had anticipated and Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks. Jim took Lucky for his evening walk faithfully, but the little dog just drooped, whining and miserable.
Finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital. When she arrived home, Mary was so exhausted she couldn’t even make it up the steps to her bedroom. Jim made his wife comfortable on the couch and left her to nap. Lucky stood watching Mary but he didn’t come to her when she called. It made Mary sad but sleep soon overcame her and she dozed.
When Mary woke for a second she couldn’t understand what was wrong. She couldn’t move her head and her body felt heavy and hot. But panic soon gave way to laughter when Mary realized the problem. She was covered, literally blanketed, with every treasure Lucky owned! While she had slept, the sorrowing dog had made trip after trip to the basement bringing his beloved mistress all his favorite things in life. He had covered her with his love.
Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living again, walking further and further together every day. It’s been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free. Lucky? He still steals treasures and stashes them in his toy box but Mary remains his greatest treasure.
Remember….live every day to the fullest. Each minute is a blessing from God. And never forget….the people who make a difference in our lives are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care for us.
If you see someone without a smile today give them one of yours! Live simply. Love seriously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God . Dear God, I pray for the cure of cancer. Amen

I lost my mother to breast cancer when I was just 13 years old and I still miss her so much even though I’m in my late 30’s now. However, I know that she is always with me since a mother’s spirit never truly leaves her child. It seems to me like your mother has raised an amazing daughter. I pray that she will be able to find her way past this disease and continue to bless your life every day with her presence. Your mom is SUNSHINE, LOVE, JOY (I actually typed “LOY” by accident, lol I think I made a new word!) all rolled up in one - a truly amazing and inspiring human being. Her smile, laughter and love of life - her vivaciousness, her spirit, her “mojo” LIGHT UP THE ROOM AND ALL THOSE WHO are blessed enought to know her, meet her, experience her. SHE IS AWESOME and you honor her with this gorgeous photo and your beautiful words. Dear God, I don’t know Pennie other than by reputation - we work for the same company but in different parts of the country. What I know of her and have heard about her has always been so positive. She was recently given a standing ovation at our company meeting and that says it all. Please God, heal Pennie and let her continue to be there for her family and friends . The world needs more loving and positive people like her. Amen.

Some people you only need to meet once to know they have great inner strength , always at the ready for the next challenge. Pennie is one such person. I am not surprised how she has risen to the challenge. Her actions in the face of this physical insult speak louder than words ever could. God give her the strength to be herself, always.
Your beautiful and everything happends for a reason and your hear to tell a beautiful story and when you tell it your going to be cancer free !!!! Get on fighting you can do it :)

Pennie, What a fantastic smile… it really warms the heart. You are beautiful both inside and out. I still picture you as the little girl who sent me silly cards and acted goofy, it makes me smile and laugh out loud as I think of it right now! I don’t know if you remember me, but I’ve never forgotten you and how you could always light up a room and make everyone break into a good laugh. That positive spirit will keep you healthy. I have been intending to post a comment for many months….today, being Easter Sunday may be fitting. In fact, it was out of my hands, as I accidentally hit the link on my favourites, left the room and came back to Pennie’s beautiful smile on my laptop!! Love how that works!! I have read many of the prayers and find the expression of love, hope and appreciation to be so incredibly heartwarming. Pennie, you are in my thoughts. You are an inspiration in every way. You are blessed with a wonderful family and friends that have the blessing of seeing life through your eyes. Every day, every minute is a gift and we are all in this together….seeking the love and happiness that is all around us and giving back that same love and joy. Hey Pennie, This is the first time i’ve visited this site.I found it by accident,or maybe God led me to it,i’m not sure but either way i’m glad to be here.First let me say that you have a wonderful daughter,Stephanie.I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting her in person but reading her comments online convienced me that she is a wonderful woman who loves her mother very much. Thank you Stephanie for being there for your mom when she needs you the most.I’m sure she appreciates it more than you’ll ever know. I was thrilled to hear that you was trusting God for your healing.He can,and in a lot of cases does,heal us when we have no where else to turn.My dad was diagnosed with multiple myloma(spelling may be incorrect) which there in no known cure.After time went by he awoke in the middle of the night and God spoke to him telling him to get out of bed and walk up and down the hall seven times.He did as he was told.At the end of the seventh time the Lord said,now stomp your feet on the floor,which normally would be impossible with this illness without incredible pain.My dad then stomped his feet and there was no pain what so ever. The following day he had an appointment to visit his doctor.He preceded to explain to the doctor what had happened the night before.The doctor ran more test and there was no trace of multiple miloma.The doctor stated that he definitely believed in God’s healing.There is nothing to hard for God to do.He can heal cancer just as easily as He can heal a headache.Keep trusting in God no matter what the situation seems to be.Things may not be going in the direction we think they should but God’s way is not always our way.He has His own way of doing things.Keep praying and never give up on Him.I will definitely be saying prayers for you,Stephanie and the whole family. We wish you all the best. Through a whim and a fluke I stumbled on this tonight. Pennie and I go way back, to a time when we were very young and lived a few houses apart. For a while we were close friends, and I still smile when I think about the fun we had together in those days. Stephanie, your picture of her is gorgeous, and I can see that she is as beautiful now as she was then … I always loved her smile and the way her eyes would light up, full of humour. It’s a wonderful thing to know how much love and beauty she has in her life now, though her family. She was very special to me then, and although we grew apart as we got older and went our separate ways, I would be honoured to be able to do something for her now. It’s a wonderful idea to join people together - combined energy and love and prayer is a powerful thing. I will definitely be joining in and sending some light her way. Pennie, for you my girl … a very warm hug. Young as we were, you made those years special, and somehow you’ve always stayed with me. I will add you to my prayers of hope and healing … drawing on the memory of the warmth of our friendship and the laughter we shared.
