A Perfect Autumn Day 08/10/01 940 views

It’s been so long since I last posted! I have had pictures lined up for some time now, but I haven’t had the chance to breathe for the past couple weeks. Since I last posted I said I was going back for a fifth year at All Saints High School to get my marks up a bit and then re-apply to University later for the winter semester, all things changed after that following Monday. I got an email Sunday night saying I was admitted to Trent University, with a late acceptance. I called in that following Monday on my spare at school to see exactly what was going on. They said I could attend school as soon as I’d like, all I need to do is come pick up a package and sign up for courses.

Later during that day I packed up all my stuff and made a trip down to the Oshawa Campus in Trent. I received my package, talked to a bunch of people to get started and basically in three days time I was a student at Trent University. There was no time for posting that that point; I was on the computer or at the campus until 11 or 12 at night. Then after I got all settled into my classes I figured I could start posting, only missing a week. Well, was I ever wrong.

Not only was the work load almost triple what I received from high school, but trying to keep up with lectures, presentations, and midterms was especially hard. Every night I have been up to my neck in work. I just finished a bunch of assignments last week and this week has been tolerable. So, I’m going to try from now on, now that I can manage my time better, I’m going to try and post my regular Wednesday. I’m not making any promises though, because if work gets out of hand again, I may not post. So if I miss a week, you’ll know where I am and what I’m doing.

So In celebration of my time off, me and Aaron went walking around old Brooklin with our Cameras. This long overdue trip was a much needed break to spend some time with each other and do something we both love. I got some very good shots out of the trip, that you’ll see in weeks to come, and so did Aaron. He actually posted a new picture in his website yesterday on to www.offtone.com. If you happen to look at it, it’s a picture of me :D.

The walk was beautiful, every photographers favourite time of year, autumn. Red and orange leaves fall on the streets and make neighbour’s lawns look like the sunset. This picture of course I couldn’t resist posting. I loved the contrast between the drain and the golden leaves. I took numerous amounts of pictures of that drain trying to get the right angle, then discovered there wasn’t enough subject matter to the picture. So, I added my feet! Which were very appropriately different shades of brown. If I were wearing any other type of shoes, I don’t think I would have posted it. I loved it from the moment I saw the frame through my camera. It was a perfect picture of autumn. I didn’t really do much in photo shop either, made the leaves a little more vibrant, other than that, there was no touch-ups. I loved it so much, I made this picture my background on my lap top. Happy October 1st!

This is such a great picture. And I can see what you mean by the feet, it totally completes the picture, and gives it a sort of… ballin quality. Ya know? But uh… my eyes are constantly starring at… the grass right in the middle, probably from your shoe.

Humm, I can photo shop that out…Maybe I will do that tonight. Thanks for the tip!

I didn’t even notice the grass before… But now that I do, I think it brings some texture to the bars. I wouldn’t change a thing. :P

Hrm, well I can’t decide right now. I’m not sure if your right, or if it is distracting. I’ll get more people to look at it. But thanks for the idea:)

Let me get this straight: You’re debating whether or not to Photoshop the faults off a sewer grate?

It’s a nice shot. Leave it alone! (Pun intended.)

What’s wrong with that? It is a little distracting, maybe? I don’t know. Whats wrong wit getting rid of the faults on a sewer?

It’s a sewer. It’s dirty. It’s outdoors.

Actually, the thing that (slightly) distracted me was the ever-so-slight slant of the entire photo in the clockwise direction.

BAH! The damn sewer is off center. Well, thanks for pointing it out. Aw, and I really thought it was perfect. So close!

I was used to all of these “imperfections” and now you’ve gone ahead and changed it on me. Bah, I liked the original. :P
